FURNITURE POLISHING TECHNIQUES

When polishing furniture it is important not to create layers and layers of built up polish. This can result in the unnecessary task of having to wash or strip it all off and begin the paste wax process.

When you are confronted with fingerprints, smudges, coffee cup rings on real wood, it is best to spray the polish onto your polishing cloth and not directly onto the furniture.

Smudges on real wood

Do NOT spray onto real wood

Spray onto your polish cloth

Fold cloth over, then wipe

After you apply the polish to your cloth, fold the cloth over so that the polish is on the inside of the cloth and does not come in direct contact with the wood of the furniture. By applying consistent and steady pressure while wiping you will be able to remove the dirt and marks without applying more polish to the wood.
