Water conditioner – A material that improves the quality of water for a given application or use. Water Softener – Substance which removes or counteracts the hardness of water. Wax - A natural protective coating for hard surfaces, rarely used today. Wear – A distortion of the surface of a floor coating due to traffic and abrasion. Wear and Tear – The gradual deterioration of property, resulting from use, passage of time and weather. Wet Mopping – Applying a liberal amount of cleaning solution. Used in disinfecting, thorough cleaning, scrubbing, stripping operations. Requires removing excess solution to complete. Wetting Agents – A chemical which reduces surface tension of water, allowing it to spread more freely.
